Bok Ryul Yoo received the master's degree in 1985 and Ph.D. in 1991 in inorganic chemistry from Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology. He joined Korea Institute of Science and Technology as a researcher in 1985 and promoted to a principal investigator in 1998. He spent one year as a postdoctoral fellow at the University of Pennsylvania in 1994. He has been serving as the president of the Korean Silicon Society (2014-2015) and as an editor-in-chief for Journal of Industrial and Engineering Chemistry in 2014-2015 and had served as editor in 1997-2013 and also Journal of the Korean Chemistry Society in 2012-2013, respectively. His research area has been broaden in the syntheses and applications of Si-based materials such as organosilicon, siloxane compounds, silica nanocomposites, and silicon nanoparticles applicable to high-tech industry.
